Qlemi exists because I needed it, and it is still mostly judged by whether it helps me finish a novel.

Who builds this

I am Reda Ekengren, a developer in Sweden. Qlemi is a one person project, built in the evenings, and I am its heaviest user. There is no team, no investor and no roadmap decided by anyone else.

Why it exists

I was writing a novel and kept missing things on the page that were obvious the moment I heard them read aloud. A dropped word, a sentence with no rhythm, dialogue that nobody would say. Hearing prose read back is old advice for exactly this reason.

So I listened to my manuscript in a word processor, and then hit the wall everyone hits: hearing the problem is easy, fixing it means sitting down. The tool could read to me but it could not listen back. Every fix meant stopping the walk and going home to the keyboard.

That gap is the whole product. Listen, flag what limps, speak the replacement, and the revision lands in the manuscript. Everything else in Qlemi exists to make that loop better.

Written in the thing it is

I write my own novel in Qlemi every day. That is not marketing, it is the development process: the roadmap is a list of things that annoyed me while writing. Features nobody uses do not survive contact with actually needing to finish a chapter.

What I will not build

Qlemi will not write your prose. Not a generate button, not a suggested next line, not a rewrite of your paragraph into something smoother. I have no interest in a tool that produces sentences I did not write, and a lot of writers feel the same about their own books.

The AI here does two jobs: it reads your words out loud, and it turns your speech back into your words. Where that text goes is written out in detail on the privacy page, because a manuscript is not ordinary data.

Where it is going

Slowly, and in public. The changelog is what actually shipped rather than what is promised. If something is missing that would make your writing easier, tell me: with two users and a short queue, a good suggestion tends to arrive quickly.
